Is counselling private?

Confidentiality and privacy are vital to the counselling process and are therefore protected and respected. No information about your counselling session will be released without your informed, voluntary and written consent. You will be asked to sign a ‘Statement of Understanding’ which informs you and protects your right to confidentiality. It also directly informs you of the limits to confidentiality which include a risk of serious harm to self/other, disclosures of child abuse, or when ordered by a court of law.
